ABOUT HEALTH, ABOUT POLITICS

At the onset of this epidemic, there was a culpable delay in sounding the alarm by the Chinese government and an equally guilty delay by the WHO in declaring a pandemic.

If the links with China had been closed in a timely manner, we probably wouldn’t have to count the deaths today and we shouldn’t have to suffer this serious economic crisis.
These omissions were dictated due to political reasons completely ignoring the health risks, with the complacent silence of the Press: the same political mismanagement of a health emergency that occurred in 2014 with the Ebola epidemic.
Common sense would have suggested quarantining those who came from Africa, given the long incubation period of the disease, but it was not done trusting in the benevolence of fate. On that occasion I wrote a fiery letter to the minister of Health in Office, later reported by many Press organs in Italy and abroad.

Below are some links to the Press review, topic-related.
Fortunately, the Ebola epidemic died out spontaneously, but the coronavirus one did not: this time the quarantine was done, but for the indigenous citizens.
